Deleting your account

Reset local data first if needed, then delete your account; what is removed in the cloud and what stays on disk until you erase it.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

Before you delete

Export or note anything you still need. After account deletion, cloud services tied to Overshow will no longer be available under that identity. Local files remain on your Mac until you delete them separately.

Reset local data

To remove the encrypted local database from this Mac before or without closing your account:

  1. Open Settings → Data in the desktop app.
  2. Choose Reset local data.
  3. Type delete exactly as shown and confirm.

The app stops its local service, removes the per-user SQLCipher database and replayable recovery queues, then starts with a fresh empty database. This removes captures, transcripts, meetings, search data, locally stored calendar data, mail metadata and excerpts, and derived records. It does not delete markdown mirror or other plaintext exports outside the database, sign you out, cancel your subscription, or delete your web account.

Delete your Overshow account

Complete account deletion at app.over.show (or the account closure flow your organisation uses), following the final confirmation steps. You may need to resolve an active subscription in the billing portal first if the product requires it.

What happens when your account is deleted

Removed in the cloud (typical):

  • Subscription and billing association for that Overshow account (subject to Stripe and legal retention for invoices where applicable)
  • Device registration, session records, and encrypted Google or Microsoft provider tokens for that account
  • Other cloud-held metadata needed to operate the service for that user

Not automatically removed:

  • Local data on your Mac, including the encrypted database and any exports you created, stays on disk until you reset local data or remove it through the operating system.

Recommended order: export anything important, reset local data if you want the machine clean, cancel the subscription if required, then delete the account.
